NEW DEVICE TO ASSURE SIGNAL SHUNTING ON AXLE-LESS TRUCK

The Iron Highway integral train was operated on a Canadian Railway for approximately two years. This integral train used a unique axle-less truck in order to improve ride quality and derailment security.  In order to properly shunt track circuits and operate the signals, it was necessary to connect the two independent wheels electrically. The shunt assembly shown, along with adapters (bolted over the inner bearing caps) provided an easy to maintain and reliable way to accomplish this.  Both the shunts and the adapters were designed and supplied by Railmotive.
